Initiated by the CHESS leadership, the first CHESS regional meeting was held on 10th September at the Geophysical Institute of the University of Bergen, for CHESS members in Bergen. The main purpose of the gathering is to raise awareness about CHESS and its activities and to promote networking and interactions among CHESS members, PhDs and supervisors, in each region – Bergen, Oslo and Tromsø.
Around 25 CHESS students and supervisors in Bergen attended this very first gathering. After presenting CHESS school and its activities, our leader Thomas Spengler held a short discussion session with the participants to see how CHESS can improve the course portfolio. The feedbacks and suggestions from the audience were very constructive. After the gathering, all participants enjoyed the pizza lunch together and took the opportunity to continue their informal discussions or simply enjoy chatting with peers.
A similar gathering will be organized in fall in Oslo and Tromsø respectively.
